Robert Hoepel is a lawyer and partner at Smallegange. Robert has a broad shipping practice with a focus on dispute resolution. He predominantly acts for shipping companies, marine insurers (H&M, P&I and FD&D), shipyards and ship suppliers. He handles a wide range of contractual issues and disputes involving marine casualties, charter parties, attachments and ship building contracts. Robert has a particular interest in the fishing industry, frequently assisting owners and insurers of fishing vessels in a variety of disputes. Robert spent time on secondment at a marine insurer in London and regularly advises on insurance cover disputes involving H&M- and CAR-policies.
Robert regularly speaks at international conferences and seminars. He is the chair of the YCMI Standing Committee of the Comité Maritime International. He is also a member of AIJA, the International Association of Young Lawyers.
Robert is an editor of the maritime and insurance law review Schip & Schade.
